From Nigeria; I Wonder; The Holiday Craze and Propofol, the killer drug?
Summer is here, did it ever go away, I wondered? The Schools, most of them have either broken for holidays or will break by Friday. Thank God for that.

Lakeside Shopping Mall
It means the roads will be less busy. The few shopping malls we have will be packed. I can remember the Lakeside Shopping Centre in Essex. I always disliked going during the school holidays. The place, I mean, Lakeside shopping centre was always parked with youngsters loitering around, doing exactly what? Again I always wondered?
“You don’t understand Dad”, is always the response that comes from daughter. “It is fun”, she buttresses her point with a smile. I snide back, poking my tongue out – “It is fun”, I tell her looking rather bemused.
Over here in Nigeria, it is a little bit different. Different in the sense that the country is parked with Nigerians in the diaspora. Children on a 2 week visit. A combination of those who have never been and those who had but only for 14 days. While those who are here are on their way out to “away”.
Wifey told me that I needed to have heard how parents were playfully boasting about holiday trips to Dubai, England and America of course. Abuja, Aba and Abeokuta, renowned Nigerian cosmopolitan cities were never mentioned. Again, I wondered for the umpteenth time.
Flights to the UK and America were fully taken up, during this economic climate, yet they say there is no money. Guys, it is a lie o!!!
As soon as the last examination paper was written, students with their parents fly out on holidays. Another interesting thing is the end of term parties (incidentally, with all the palaver daughter, aunty Bola and Wifey went through to get daughter’s gown for the ball, it was cancelled) and Prize giving day ceremony. It all brought back fun memories.
As the summer holidays are here, it also means one thing for football lovers here in Nigeria, the premiership league is about to commence. Words cannot describe the Premiership craze amongst football fans. The radio, TV, newspapers are all covering the transfer drama as it unfolds.

Confederation Cup Final Venue
Last Sunday, the Confederation Cup Final, formerly known as the F.A Cup Final took place at the magnificent Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos. The match between Sharks of Port Harcourt and Enyimba of Aba was covered live on AIT and DSTV. But the disappointment was in the realisation that it did not command the same excitement the premiership generated. Will I wonder why? You guess it. I wondered why not?
Finally, I know that Michael Jackson will probably be bigger in death than when he was alive. Already his album sales are breaking all sorts of records and even the controversy surrounding his death is still big news.
And do I wonder why so many people are jumping on the bandwagon to cash in on his death? What is it with the autopsy? Hehn?

Did Propofol, the potent anaesthetic drug kill MJ or not? For what I have read, Propofol is a sedative drug and patients tend to show great variability in their response to propofol, at times showing profound sedation with small doses.

Father Joe and Marshall Thompson, his Business Partner
In the mean time, it always has to be Father Joe – JOE JACKSON in the news. Michael’s father is in the centre of controversy. This man can really do with stepping aside from all this nonsense and let MJ rest in perfect peace. He seems to me to love the lime light. Or is it just me? Again, I am wondering.

was it really an overdose that killed mj?
There are some great new paintings of Michael about to be released by Upper Deck in their next set of baseball cards:

The caricatures are loud and freaky intense. I imagine that they capture the self-image that he had while he was with us. I can’t wait to collect them all.
