Top 7 Nigeria News plus Diasporas in Nigeria going back?…

The global economic situation in the world has at last spilled over to Nigeria. How we were able to live in the hope that the wind will simply blow over us, I really don’t know. Most times and not sometimes, we live in false hope. The banks, we all know, well, let us say some of the banks, have failed us. Again, I extended my trust just a stretch too far in believing that all was well. Now I know better. There is now call to sell, sell and sell whatever is left you have.

I remember I wanted to sell my shares many months back only to see the staggering rate of depreciation before my eyes. I decided it just was no longer worth it. Now, I pretend I don’t even have the shares as it is too painful to see. Whatever anyone might say about CBN Gov Sanusi about the Cabal behind the veil, I really do not give a damn. Why must we always suspect ulterior motives behind any progressive Nigerian move? It really baffles me!!

As for my fellow Nigerians who had relocated and finding it extremely tough going, all I can say is hang on as much as possible before taking any hasty decision. I am aware of the influx back; yes back, to the United Kingdom and America.

My people, the terrain is extremely harsh over here. As for those who are on the verge of coming over to Nigeria, if you are single, my advice is do not burn the bridge from wherever you may be coming from. And if you are married, then my top tip will be for one of you to come over first to taste the temperature. I would even go as far as suggesting to the agreed partner to spend at least a minimum of between 18 – 24 months before nursing any idea of providing a comprehensive feedback.

Many who were bold enough to have made the move are either reconsidering or have reconsidered. It can be very tough going. Consider all the luxuries of life you are used to – uninterrupted electricity, clean drinkable water and what have you, all gone and you are expected to survive.

Much more on this later…..

What do you think of the top 7 Nigeria news?

Have a great day and God bless.

Is it really that tough to live here? Maybe because I have always lived here, I really don’t find it that hard except of course the lack of power supply. There’s nothing we are experiencing now that we were not experiencing before. Power supply has always been epileptic, roads have alwways been bad, landlords have always been crazy, and the leaders have always been corrupt.. Bumight is right, these are tough times everywhere, not just in Nigeria alone. These too will pass.

As for stocks, let’s not even go there.

    Hmmn Jide,

This your post dey fear me small oh for those of us planning to relocate in the next two years. I know the economic crisis is hitting us all but I can only imagine how difficult it must be in Nigeria. I got a serious shocker yesterday from lil bro looking for accomodation in Lagos for almost two weeks. I didn’t realize that when you rent from landlords, you move into a shell of a house. As in no finishing touches like flooring, painting, sometimes no plumbing, lighting, capentry. We had to send almost 2k to pay for 2yrs rent in a newly built complex. I went on to ask him if the place had tiled or carpeted floors, door protection, lighing fixtures to which he laughed at me. He informed me that the tenant has to install all those things by themselves. I went to ask other people who have rented in Lagos and they all confirmed the same thing. The tenant is preety much responsible for completing the building of the house. Infact, my mind cannont fathom how in the world that makes sense. It just looks fundamentally wrong. My husband had to remind me with the words I hate so much, “You’ve been too americanized.” Sadly, I had to agree. Chai!!! Infact, bcos of this I’ll run for senate and introduce laws protecting tenants from the shams of landlords…lol Speaking of saving money, we were even of thinking of depositing money little by little in our account in Nigeria but mba oh I’m holding on to my money. No more stocks either. We’ll watch and pray and see how this thing onfolds.

i often tell people that nigeria is a failed system but they don’t seem to realize. previous government regimes have failed. this one will fail too. this is because nigeria is a country that deliberately plans to fail despite her huge human and natural resources.

The truth is the economic crisis is worldwide. And there was really no way nigeria could be exempted. Yes, I agree with you, this is not the time for hasty decisions -whether iit involves d move to nigeria or from Nigeria.
    God help us all!

Hmmmmm grim times, but your right in saying those who have already made the move should hang in there. Like everything in life there must be a beginning and an end.

I am somewhat bemused if not annoyed ( not at you oga Jide…lol )at one of the top 7 Nigerians links you provided. I remember early this year seeing an article from former head of state Yakubu Gowon “Saying only prayers can save Nigeria”….. it will take more than prayers. ONLY NIGERIANS WITH THE WILL POWER TO CHANGE THE NATION CAN DO IT. Empty prayers to God without “doing something” is a waste of time.

Anyway keep up the good work Jide……LETS KEEP HOPE ALIVE….
