NIGERIA’s PRIDE

This is a page dedicated to Nigerian achievers.

JSD will carefully select Nigerians who are worthy of emulation. Nigerians who we can refer to as National treasures. Nigerians who are proud to wave the Green White Green tag any where in the world. JSD has recognised that these Nigerians may not necesaary reside in Nigeria but do not shy away from the fact that they are Nigerians first and foremost before any other nationality.

JSD is proud to introduce you to the following Nigerians. Click on the link and read more about them.

1.  CHIMAMANDA NGOZI ADICHIE - A supremely talented novelist.

2.  PHILIP EMEAGWALI – One of the founding fathers of the Internet.

3. KEN SARO-WIWA – (1941-1995) – An excuted environmental activist.

Ken Saro-Wiwa

In 1994 Saro-Wiwa was imprisoned by order of the dictator Sani Abacha. He had strongly defended the rights of the Ogoni people and criticized the government’s oil policy with Royal Dutch/Shell. Despite wide international protests, Saro-Wiwa was hanged after a show trial with other eight Ogoni rights activists in Port Harcourt, on November 10, 1995. Read more about this unique talent. Patricia Cohen, in the New York Times explored the legacy of this writer’s violent end. You too can also remember him .

4. MAL NUHU RIBADU – Pioneer Chairman of Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)

    Jide hi,

My lovely wife, Foluke said she talked to you earlier today and told me about your blog. I am impressed.
There are 36 states and the FCT in Nigeria. There is however a 37th State which is not in the constitution. It is a virtual state, an intellectual state and those who are of this state are the ones charged with charting the future direction of the Nation, some may already be in govt., most are not, many are outside Nigeria. It has no geographical boundary, knows no tribe or ethnic affiliation, knows no religion (but is God fearing), is not gender discriminatory and knows no north/south non agendas. It is non exploitative.
When the members of this state finally recognise one and other and come together, there will be meaningful change….
I guess what your site may eventually do,is bring the 37th State together. – Leadership finally expressed. (The unwritten constitution)
    Proud to be Nigerian.
    Well Done Fella !!!

    Hey Jide,
I love this. Great stuff! Your ‘Rockshock’ blood surely lives on in you. Read through most until my eyes almost gave up. Yours is now one of my favorite. I should get Kunle hooked too. BTW, where do you find the time to blog intelligently amongst all the rat race madness etc? Keep up the good work!!

Hi Ronke, thank you so much for your kind words. That question has popped up quite a few times of late and I would soon reveal the secret. Seriously, the common denominator with all writes bar none is that they love and enjoy to dress up thoughts with words. Simple. However, the difference between most writers and busy bloggers such as I is simply this – they write everyday and may publish many more after, whereas I write everyday and chosen to publish everyday.

Warmest regards to kunle….and hope to have you back
