The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, yesterday, arrested Mr. Donald Chidi Amamgbo, a cousin of the former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke.
Amamgbo, who was allegedly involved in questionable oil lifting during the last government, was arrested in Lagos at about 4.20p.m.
Vanguard reports that Amamgbo is chief executive of Mezcor Oil and Gas limited, Tridax Oil and Gas Limited, Lynear Energy Limited and Bulk Strategic Reserves Limited.
The operatives also searched his Abuja office and premises at 5, Sannar Street, Wuse 2, where documents, showing how the firm bought choice property were retrieved.
Amamgbo allegedly got approval to lift Nigerian crude oil worth billions of dollars for over four years without any requisite experience.
The arrest of Amamgbo came one week after the EFCC quizzed Diezani’s husband, Admiral Alison Madueke (rtd), over $600,000 found in his accounts.
