President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday appointed Dakuku Peterside as the Director General of Nigerian Maritime administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).
A statement by Yetunde Sonaike, the director of Public Relations at the Ministry of Transportation in Abuja said the appointment was with immediate effect.
Mr. Peterside was the governorship candidate of APC in April 11, 2015 governorship election in Rivers State and also a former member, House of Representative from 2011 to 2015.
According to the statement, Mr. Peterside has a doctorate degree in Management Science from the University of Port Harcourt and MBA in Business Administration.
He also holds a bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences (B.MLS) in Hematology from Rivers State University of Science and Technology.
Raymond Omatseye, a former Director-General (DG) of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), charged with an alleged N1.5billion contract scam.
He was suspended as the DG of the agency since December 2010 and being tried before a Federal High Court in Lagos by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. Temisan believed the then Attorney General of the Federation, AGF, Mohammed Adoke, was persecuting him pointing out that his trial came shortly after he declined a request by Adoke to discontinue a case that NIMASA filed against the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG). He refused to compromise.
Unbeknown to me, I was under the impression the case had been concluded when I asked him about the case. That was three weeks ago. I found him an honest man Nigeria should fight to have in place as a leader. I asked him how he was able to cope with a case that has been ongoing for 5 years.
