The ancient city of Ile-Ife on Sunday witnessed an influx of dignitaries who came for the thanksgiving ceremony of the traditional wedding of Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi and Olori Wuraola.
The union between Ooni Ogunwusi and Olori Wuraola, which took place in Benin City on Saturday was described as a consolidation of the age-long connection between the Yorubas and the people of Benin of Edo State. Some dignitaries, who spoke at the event advised the couple to put God first and employ communication to help foster a happy home, which according to them would be reflected through the realisation of the monarch’s vision of promoting peace and unity among all.
The Ooni, while appreciating God for a new beginning, reiterated his commitment to the unity and progress of Yoruba nation. Some of the notable Nigerians at the event include; Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, deputy governor of Osun State, Mrs Titi Laoye-Tomori, Senator Florence Ita-Giwa, traditional rulers from across the South-west states and the Olu of Warri, His Majesty, Ogiame Ikenwoli. Other dignitaries also present at the ceremony were the Emir of Borgu, Alhaji Muhammed Salidunturu, a governorship aspirant in Ondo State, Senator Ajayi Borofice, the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Adepele Ojo among others.
