Joe Igbokwe appeals to Ndigbo; Oba Akiolu spoke out of anger.

JOE-IGBOKWE-jide-saluThe Lagos State APC Publicity Secretary, Joe Igbokwe, in a statement, said the monarch spoke out of anger.

He urged his kinsmen not to take out their anger on the APC governorship candidate, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, who knew nothing about the incident.

The statement read, “Oba Rilwan Akiolu of Lagos is not a card-carrying member of APC. He is not a leader in the APC. He does not speak for the APC. He did not speak for Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos state.

“He did not speak for our national leader Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He did not speak for the incoming governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode. His Royal Highness is at liberty to speak for himself and he spoke for himself only.

“Lagos APC appeals to Ndigbo not to take the statement as the position of the party in Lagos. We passionately appeal to Ndigbo not to carry the statement credited to Oba Akiolu too far so as not to put a knife on things that have held us together for more than 50 years now.”

“If out of annoyance, you throw your cap away, a mad man will take it and use it forever.”

Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in a spin to distance himself from Oba of Lagos; Oba Akiolu not APC’s Spokesman.

Ambode, Tinubu, Fashola-jide-salu.comA former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has said the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, is not a member of the All Progressives Congress and cannot speak on behalf of the party. (I can’t recollect if he was cautioned when he backed Akinwunmi Ambode ahead of other APC aspirants before the Primaries. It was a good thing it was recorded. The excuse would have been a Jimi Agbaje propaganda)

Tinubu said this at a rally in Iganmu, Lagos, while reacting to the controversial comments of the monarch on Tuesday.

The APC National Leader, who noted that he was the first Yoruba governor to ever appoint an Igbo commissioner, said the Peoples Democratic Party, having failed to win last week’s presidential elections, were desperately trying to pull the APC into the Akiolu controversy.

He said the Coordinator of the Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria, Ifeanyi Ubah, and the PDP leader, Bode George, were only making baseless accusations against the APC.

Tinubu said, “The oba is not a politician. His job is to accommodate all political parties, whether PDP, APC or SDP. So, what did he (Ubah) go and do at the palace?

“To you Igbos, don’t we pay your children’s school fees like others? Or is it the palace that pays for it? When we conducted an exam and a spelling competition, an Igbo boy, Ebuka, from Anambra, came first and he became the governor for one day.

“Those that won the competition three times in a row were Igbo. Ebuka was sent to Switzerland computer school and then Obafemi Awolowo University. We did not say he was an Igbo boy and he would not enjoy. He became an executive in Oando and he is now in Canada.

“Another boy, Felix, won and went to Switzerland and OAU. We paid his scholarship; we did not deny him because he is Igbo.”

PDP and Jonathan Goodluck will not challenge Buhari’s victory in court says Olisa Metuh.

Goodluck JonathanNATIONAL Leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP said, Tuesday that it was not going to court to challenge the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC and winner of March 28 Presidential election, General Muhammadu Buhari, retd, just as it stressed that as a party, it would not distract the President- elect, but support him for the unity, development and to salvage the nation’s democracy.

Addressing Journalists in Abuja on the topic “Nigeria on the brinks of dictatorship,” PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh who claimed that PDP will return to power in the next four years, however raised alarm that the APC was plotting to impose one-party system in the country.

Metuh said, “Because we are convinced that the APC lacks what it takes to sustain our democracy, the PDP is not leaving any stone unturned to ensure that it returned to power in the next four years to save the nation’s democracy and re-channel our vision of a greater Nigeria.”

Explaining why PDP would not go to court, Metuh said, “we will not distract Buhari, we will help him to salvage democracy. We will offer APC alternative programme. We will be the best opposition, we do hope that the opposition will appreciate democracy.

“PDP recognises that there were irregularities in the presidential election, but we decided that promoting unity is paramount to us. It is the wish of this party that the President-elect will not be disturbed, we will not do anything that will disturb him and we will not condole harassment of our members.”

Metuh continued, “the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has invited you today to address a matter of serious national importance, a grievous development and worrisome trend which is not only inimical to the stability of our nation but also the collective wellbeing of all citizens.

” As we address you today, our nation and its citizens are facing a serous threat. We are at the verge of a quick slide into dictatorship and the personal freedom we all enjoy today is about to be obliterated.

Deji Adeyanju: Jimi Agbaje, don’t allow them kill you like Funsho Williams … @jimiagbaje

jk-bold-ideas-jide-saluFrom all indications and by the recent happenings in Lagos State, Jimi Agbaje is sure of winning the April 11, 2015 governorship election in the state if results from the polling units will be allowed to count and as such he should take his personal security before Saturday’s election serious.

Agbaje popularly called Jimi is the man to beat in this election. Lagosians are tired of the 16years of looting, waste & bad governance in the state. Never before has any man ever posed serious threat to the Tinubu’s political dynasty like Jimi Agbaje of the PDP presently does.

Lagosians like Nigerians seem to just want change. Anything but not APC in Alausa will do now. ‎But since Lagos is more important to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed and his fellow gangs of vested interested, they can do anything possible under the sun to protect their political empire.

There is no doubt that Asiwaju’s political control at the national level will be limited and tamed by the Fulanis that will surround Buhari and won’t let him have a hold. Tinubu understands this and will do anything possible to maintain his godfather dominance in Lagos.

The threat that Jimi poses to Asiwaju’s dynasty is a very serious one and he should as a matter of urgency take his personal security very serious. Those who murdered Funsho Williams are still very much around and alive. The devil in them is always willing to act more.

Jimi should take appropriate security measures about his personal safety at all times. He should leave nothing to chance as he is dealing with very ruthless set of people who will not hesitate to commit the most wicked act to protect their political/business empire. They have a well oiled media conglomerate to manage the worst crime and even put the burden on the PDP.

If going by all predictions and opinion polls conducted so far about the Lagos gubernatorial elections of a Jimi victory, the security agencies should fortify their security presence around Jimi Agbaje. This is necessary so not to trigger an unimaginable crisis.

The APC in Lagos maintains a Mafia group and has institutionalized area boys known as Team Lagos. They can always carry out the most dastardly of crimes. They can do anything to ensure the filth of lucre they enjoy is maintained. Agbaje must watch it as history beckons on him to salvage Lagos.

Afenifere to Oba of Lagos: “Yoruba people are too civilised to support the primitive intimidation of fellow Nigerians.”

Akiolu-of-Lagos-jide-salu.com

AS outrage greeted the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu’s (alleged) death threat and curse that Igbo will drown in Lagos lagoon within seven days if they did not vote for the All Progressives Congress, speaking on behalf of the group, Afenifere spokesperson, Mr Yinka Odumakin said: “We say with all sense of responsibility that if these were truly the words of Kabiyesi, he has clearly crossed the line of royal decency, desecrated the royal stool and violated the electoral laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and engaged in promotion of hate speech capable of fuelling ethnic tension and clashes which are against the spirit of peaceful co-existence which we have achieved in recent years.”

Odumakin, however, assured Igbo and other non-Yoruba in Lagos that the conduct of Oba Akiolu is “totally strange to Yoruba culture and a negation of our democratic character as a people.”

He noted that one of the most cherished values of proper Yoruba people is the respect for freedom of choice.

His words: “We respect the right of Oba Akiolu to drop the crown at Iga and become Director of Mobilisation for the leader of his party if he so desires, but we detest his hiding behind the throne to fan the embers of disunity which could put Yoruba people in harm’s way wherever they are living as settlers.

“Yoruba people are too civilised to support the primitive intimidation of fellow Nigerians just as we will not accept such action being visited on our people in any part of Nigeria.”
