Minister Musiliu Obanikoro and Governor of Rivers State Rotimi Amaechi took turns attacking one another on Twitter over the disputed election in Rivers State.

Obanikoro, in a tweet called out to Amaechi to let go, after he had congratulated Lagos state Governor-Elect Akinwunmi Ambode.

Governor Amaechi then responded, rather aggressively and embarrassingly, back at Obanikoro in a series of tweets over the credibility of the Rivers State election. Read the series of tweets below….it was embarrassing to say the least and I urgently request Buhari to intervene. TWITTER WAR: OBANIKORO vs AMAECHI-jide-salu

The media was awash earlier this week with reports that the President-elect has appointed the clergyman and his former Vice Presidential Candidate in 2011 general election, Pastor Tunde Bakare of Latter Rain Assembly as the head of his transition committee; a report which was later debunked as being untrue by the pastor.

Like northern Uganda, where I live, northern Nigeria is very isolated. For many years, the women who were abducted from our region remained invisible. So although I have not met Obiageli Ezekwesili, I know the #BringBackOurGirls campaign that she championed is very important. It would have taken a long time to raise awareness about the girls taken by Boko Haram without her using her platform as a former Minister of Education.

We need to remember that these girls are undergoing psychological and maybe physical torture. So I love that the campaign says, “Bring back our girls,” and not “Bring back my child.” Everybody is in unison with the parents and the relatives. Everyone is feeling their pain. Everyone will be ready to embrace the girls and offer them care and compassion if they are rescued or manage to escape.

It has been a year, and the girls haven’t been rescued, but she has made a difference by speaking about it. Not just speaking but shouting. I know some people will say she is too loudmouthed. The loud mouth is needed. People hear it.

Buhari-Jide-salu.comA new choice for Nigeria

Muhammadu Buhari made history in March by becoming the first candidate to oust a sitting Nigerian President through the ballot box. Now he has to live up to voters’ expectations. From battling the Boko Haram insurgency to tackling endemic corruption, Buhari has many challenges ahead. The greatest may be overcoming his past as a military ruler who seized power in 1983. Already the born-again democrat is demonstrating the inclusivity necessary to lead a nation riven by ethnic and religious tensions. “We must begin to heal the wounds and work toward a better future,” he said in his April 1 victory speech. “We do this first by extending a hand of friendship and conciliation across the political divide.” It’s a promising start for a President-to-be who wants to leave a legacy to match the historic conditions of his election.

NEW MUSIC- Why I don’t like Samklef – Gbese Ft. Lil Kesh (Prod. Jay Pizzle) – 4/10.

SAMKLEF-GBESE-OFFICIAL-jide-salu

Samklef teams up with YBNL’s soldier “Lil Kesh” on this one and he calls it “Gbese” (a yoruba word) –  when translated means “Carry Your Leg” .  Music produced by Jay Pizzle.

VERDICT: I have heard much better music and productions involving Samklef. This didn’t do it for me at all. Monotonous beat. It wasn’t ingenious. Its like a beat that was reworked. I could have sworn I had heard it before. It may be trending right now, trust me, it wasn’t because of the music, it was because of the name involved in the music – Samklef.

Born Samuel Oguachuba 26 years ago in Lagos, Samklef, as he is widely known in the Nigerian Entertainment scene remains one of the most talented music producers cum singer around at the moment, writes GBENGA BADA

Samklef, a native of Imo State who is signed to Noni Records has been in the industry for a few years, working with entertainment and advertisement firms like Sound Factory, Flow Records, Smashers Records, Back 2 Black, Mindfalls and Exp & i360 before deciding to start his own outfit, Noni Records. “I joined the industry several years ago before I eventually opened my own studio where I started recording and producing songs for various music acts.”

While horning his skills in the entertainment industry, Samklef was able to stamp his authority after his production works became most sought after by record companies and popular music acts.

Samklef’s vast experience, which was garnered by working with some of the best hands in every field with influences from international producers cum singers – Timbaland, Kanye West and Don Jazzy – has given him an edge in the music production world. This is evident in his production of popular hits like Durella’s “My Life”, Wizkid’s “Tease Me” and “Don’t Dull”, Vector’s “Kilode” and D’Prince’s “Jonzing World.”

Samklef produced a large portion of Wizkid’s widely acclaimed album ‘Superstar,’ thereby significantly contributing to the huge success of the album. He has also worked with names like Sunny Neji, Ruggedman, Durella, Skales, D’Prince (Mo’ Hits), Simisola, J Bryte, Emmsong, O’cube, Jahdiel, Vector, Mudina and a host of others. “I admire and learn from the production works as well as expertise of artistes like Timbaland, Kanye West and D’Banj,” he said.

So you see why Samklef will trend whenever he comes out with anything. The boy oozes talent….unfortunately this track ‘Gbese’ by a mile didn’t have the Samklef magic touch like Wizkid’s “Tease Me”…..I will give it a 4/10 only because Samklef’s name is on the track. For those who will want to jump on the bandwagon, just imagine this – if you were simply played this track without any mention of Samklef, would you have liked it? Yes or No? I rest my case.

Listen and let me know what you think.

BUHARI DID NOT WALK OUT CUSTOMS BOSS says Mallam Garba Shehu…

Buhari-jide-saluPresident-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, has dismissed as fictional and uncharitable, a report by an online medium that he had walked some government officials out of his residence in Daura, Katsina State.

This is contained in a statement released in Abuja by the Director of Media and Publicity of the APC Presidential Campaign, Mallam Garba Shehu, on Wednesday.

According to the statement, no such incident took place on April 15 as reported by the online newspaper.

“’It was a false and an inaccurate presentation of the facts of what transpired when some government officials visited the President-elect at his country home.

“’It is totally out of General Buhari’s character to ask his visitors out’’, it said.

The document stated that the alleged visit by the Comptroller-General of the Customs, Abdullahi Inde, only happened in the imagination of the said publication. “He did not come visiting at any time.”

On another reported incident involving Mr Ade Abolurin, the Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the statement said the President-elect was already in another meeting when Abolurin visited.

“There was no way the President-elect could receive the new visitors. He was merely passing through the town and thought to stop by.

“As a matter of fact, words were promptly sent to the gentleman and his delegation that General Buhari was unable to meet them owing to the fact that he was at an ongoing meeting preceding the time of their arrival.

“The president-elect welcomes positive suggestions from every Nigerian about how to bring progressive change to the country.

“He will not walk anyone who had come to discuss ways of developing the country.

“Courtesy and civility will not permit that to happen. It is equally not his character.

“It is, therefore, important to put the records straight that the President-elect will be a President for all Nigerians irrespective of whether anyone currently holds a public office or not,” the statement said.
